The Current Account Switching Service (CASS) was designed to create a more level playing field across banks and to encourage more choice in personal and small business banking.

Prior to its launch in Q3 2013, Kantar TNS began a major research programme to measure the response to the initiative.

The findings suggest that the switching process is working well and building confidence among a large majority of those considering switching.

However, current accounts have become more differentiated, giving account holders greater incentives to switch. Aside from disruptive innovations, there is potential over time for switching momentum to reach a tipping point in behaviours.
