Richard joined TNS in July 2013 as Global CEO, having spent the previous five years leading the global customer practice at Ernst & Young.
Richard has held many senior management consulting roles. Beginning his career at Accenture, he also worked at KPMG and InForte (Business & Decision) before returning to Accenture in 2005 to lead the global marketing effectiveness practice.
Client-side, Richard has had responsibility for corporate development at Virgin and was group marketing director for Tata Steel Europe.
Richard is passionate about ensuring TNS delivers outstanding service to our clients and really do drive growth in their businesses.
Richard graduated from the University of Birmingham with a BA in Economics and Philosophy. He is married with three children and lives in the UK.
Chief Financial Officer & Chief Operating Officer
Mike joined TNS in 2009 and is responsible for the financial, technology and offshoring/outsourcing capabilities of the group.
Prior to his current role, Mike Gettle was CFO of the Millward Brown Group with responsibility for financial and technology operations across the globe. Before that, Mike was executive vice president of operations and CFO for Millward Brown's operations in North and Latin America.
Mike began his career at Arthur Andersen & Co. as a member of the Audit and Financial Consulting Division where he focused on assisting companies with financial and operational consulting. He has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Accounting from Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, MI, USA.
Mike, his wife Marissa and children, Megan and Matthew, live in Glen Ellyn, IL. They enjoy snow skiing and relaxing on the water in Northern Michigan. Mike has been accused of being an avid golfer, but it's never been proved.
Global Operations Director
James is TNS’ Global Operations Director and was appointed to the Global Executive team in November 2009. In this role he is responsible for ensuring that TNS has the required operational capabilities to meet TNS’ clients’ needs. Prior to this appointment James was the European Operations Director for TNS’ custom business.
Between 2005 and 2007 James was the Global Operations Director for TNS Worldpanel where he was responsible for introducing new data collection and delivery techniques to the business.
James has worked in the Market Research industry for 20 years, in both commercial and operations roles, having worked at Lightspeed Research, Information Resources Inc. and Tesco.
Chief Development Officer
In his role as Chief Development Officer for TNS, Matthew is responsible for the company’s offer and leads the global practice, digital innovation, advanced analytics and marketing teams.
Matthew began his TNS career with Infratest Burke / NFO in 1992, working in a variety of client service and management roles in both the UK and France, prior to setting up NFO Financial Services in 2001.
After the merger with TNS in 2003, Matthew became Managing Director of Specialist Markets, based in London, with responsibility for the Financial Services, Technology and Media sectors.
In 2006 he took on responsibility for TNS’s Global Technology Sector, supporting key accounts and strengthening the international network. This was followed by promotion to Global Head of Areas of Expertise in 2009, a role he held until he took up his current position in 2010.
Matthew regularly speaks on a number of issues, including the future of the research industry, the impact of digital and mobile on consumer behaviours and leading businesses to growth. In September 2007, Matthew was identified as one of the “50 to watch” in UK’s Research industry magazine.
Matthew is married with three children and is a graduate of Corpus Christi College, Oxford in Philosophy, Politics and Economics.
CEO TNS Qualitative
Rebecca Wynberg was appointed CEO of the company’s global qualitative research practice in January 2012.
Rebecca has been working as a qualitative researcher since arriving in the UK from South Africa in 1981. She became Managing Director of The Research Business where she worked for eleven years.
In 1994 Rebecca founded Sadek Wynberg Research which became the world’s largest independent qualitative agency. It was sold to Millward Brown in 2003 and she then took up the role of CEO of Millward Brown’s UK qualitative arm.
In the last few years, Rebecca has been acting as consultant and strategic advisor to a number of multinational clients, particularly partnering with Unilever to raise standards of qualitative work carried out on their behalf through a far-reaching global training and accreditation programme.
She has also used her brand understanding to experience life from the client perspective by launching a niche food brand.
She is passionate about the value that qualitative research can bring to business if it is conceived and conducted well, and takes great pride in working with clients and expert colleagues to find enlightening ways of understanding people and brands.
CEO Africa and Middle East
Kim MacIlwaine was appointed Regional CEO Africa and Middle East at the beginning of 2011. Prior to this Kim was interim CEO of Research International South Africa and Chairman of Unilever Foods South Africa.
Previously Kim joined Unilever (UK) in 1979 and spent 25 years working for the Unilever Group, including as Managing Director and Chairman of the Unilever Food business in South Africa from 1996 to 2004.
Since 2009 Kim has served as Independent Non-Executive Director of AVI Ltd, a South Africa consumer products company and was also Director of the Coca Cola Retail Regional Council for Eurasia and Africa until Oct 2011.
Originally from the United Kingdom Kim is now a permanent resident of South Africa based in Durban.
Kim also sits on the TNS Global Executive Committee.
CEO Asia Pacific
Chris commenced his career in research as a founding associate of the Ehrenberg Bass Institute for Marketing Science (formerly Marketing Science Centre). During this time he published many articles in the fields of Consumer Segmentation, Brand Imagery and Advertising Impact in International Journals.
Chris entered the private sector in 1997 at Frank Small and Associates Melbourne (now TNS) and established the Consumer and Automotive research divisions. Chris quickly moved through management positions to become Managing Director of TNS Australia New Zealand and successfully reinvented these companies as Research Based Business Consultancies. Associated with this he was responsible for the acquisition of the Travel Research Centre in Australia and Conversa Global Consultancy in New Zealand in 2007.
Chris’ responsibilities expanded in 2009 to include Africa and India including the merger of TNS and Research International companies in all locations. Recognising the growth potential of Africa, Chris identified the opportunity to acquire RMS, the largest research group in West Africa. This acquisition was completed in 2010 resulting in TNS being the largest research group on the African continent.
In 2011, Chris was promoted to CEO of the Asia Pacific region.
Chief Client Officer
In her role as Chief Client Officer Heather is responsible for the development and growth of our key client relationships.
Heather began her research career at Frank Small & Associates (now TNS) having worked client side in B2B marketing. At Frank Small & Associates Heather worked predominantly with FMCG clients on areas such as branding, communication, innovation and product development, and from 1993 to 1997 she lead the Consumer Sector. In 1997 Heather joined Research International as Managing Director for Australia which was followed by the role as Managing Director for Hong Kong until she in 2001 moved to London to the Executive board position of Global Director for Unilever.
In 2004 Heather returned to Hong Kong to take up the role of CEO Asia Pacific until the merger with TNS in 2009.
After the merger with TNS, Heather has been CEO of Asia followed by the role as CMO Asia Pacific and in 2013 she was appointed Chief Client Officer.
Heather has a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing from the University of New South Wales, Australia.
CEO Latin America
Ignacio Galceran was appointed CEO of Latin America at the beginning of 2011. Prior to joining Ignacio was CEO Iberia and Latin America at Synovate.
A native of Argentina, Ignacio brings to TNS a wealth of market research experience gained with over 20 years in the industry and extensive knowledge of working with major multi-national clients through more than 18 years of being based in the US.
Prior to joining Synovate, Ignacio worked for Roper ASW (now part of GFK) and holds a master's degree in Survey Research from the University of Connecticut.
Ignacio joins the TNS Global Executive Committee and will be supported by a strong country network in Latin America.
