Of course having a large panel works in our favour, but the way in which we recruit the panel is really the smart part of how we operate. We recruit both online and offline to ensure the panel is representative of the broader population. 

We believe the type and amount of sources of recruitment can influence data quality and, therefore, have a clear recruitment policy. Smile City recruits members from a wide range of sources - online and offline. Offline recruitment (such as TV advertising, radio, cinema, banner ads, print media) serves to populate the panel with relatively harder to reach groups, which in turn makes the panel more representative of the broader population.  

As of Q1 2009, 51% of the Smile City panel has been recruited from offline media –  a figure significantly higher than the industry average. The diverse sources and scale of recruitment allow us to make a legitimate claim that we have one of the lowest duplications of members of all the online panels.
